Intoxicated Robbery suspect captured

On 10/9/09, at approximately 3:15 a.m., officers responded to the 13400 block of Roosevelt Way NE. to investigate a robbery.  The store clerk reported that the suspect entered the store and threatened him with a golf club while demanding money from the cash register.

The suspect became impatient as the clerk tried to open the register, and he struck it with the golf club, rendering it inoperable.  The suspect then stole some Red Bull energy drinks and multiple single cigarettes, before fleeing from the store.  The store clerk provided a good suspect description incident.

Later this morning, at approximately 4:18 a.m., an officer was on routine patrol when he stopped to assist what appeared to be a stranded motorist in the area of Sandpoint Way NE/NE 90th Pl.  After making contact with the driver several things became quickly apparent.

The driver showed signs of intoxication, and he matched the suspect’s description given in the earlier robbery.  The officer soon realized there was a golf club inside the car, along with cans of Red Bull and several loose cigarettes.

The suspect was later booked into King Count Jail for Investigation of Robbery, with a request that he also be charged with DUI.
