On October 23rd at approximately 4:50 p.m. the adult male victim, his adult daughter and her nine-year-old son arrived home and were parking their van in the 8400 block of 20th Avenue SW. The adult male victim got out of the van to open the gate to their driveway. While the door was open two adult male suspects emerged from behind a dumpster.
Suspect #1 jumped into the driver’s seat of the van, demanded the keys and ordered the female victim out of the van. The female victim refused to get out of the vehicle because her nine-year-old son was in the back seat. Her father saw what was going on and ran back to the van to help. The suspect in the driver’s seat began fighting with the father. The suspect pulled out a large knife with a ten-inch blade and tried to stab the father. Suspect #2 convinced suspect #1 to flee the scene and the two suspects fled westbound through an adjacent apartment complex.
Responding officers located two males matching the description of the suspects walking in the 8600 block of Delridge Way SW. As officers attempted contact the two suspects fled southwest over several fences and through several yards. The suspects were caught after a brief pursuit and detained.
After the two adult victims positively identified both suspects, the suspects were placed under arrest and transported to the Robbery Office where they were interviewed by detectives.
Both suspects were subsequently booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery, Investigation of Attempted Kidnapping, and Investigation of Assault, all felony charges. Suspect #1 is a 21-year-old male and suspect #2 is a 19-year-old male.
Robbery detectives continue to actively investigate.
