Strong arm robbery near 5th and University

On 1/1/10, at approx. 1045 p.m., the victim (an off-duty SFD fireman) returned to his vehicle, in the 500 block of University St.,  to find the suspect inside the vehicle actively trying to steal items. The victim called 911 and when the suspect became aware that he was being watched the suspect attempted to exit the vehicle.

The victim and a companion attempted to contain the suspect inside the vehicle. The suspect was able to force the door open knocking the victim to the ground. The suspect kicked the victim in the leg while keeping control of property he had stolen from the vehicle. 

The victim and his companion were able to hold the suspect on the ground until officers arrived. Property belonging to the victim was found on the suspect during the arrest search. Approx $1,200 in damage was done to the victim’s vehicle by the suspect. The suspect was booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery and Investigation of Malicious Mischief.
