Man shot near 36th and S. Adams St.

On 1/1/10, at approx. 3:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to 36th and Adams to investigate a shooting where the caller was the shooter.  Officers arrived and found numerous people and vehicles littering the street at this intersection.

As more Officers arrived they were able separate the parties, identify and detain the suspect, and give aid to the downed victim (suffered a through-and-through shot to his legs that shattered his femur).  The gun was recovered along with a single casing.

The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center where he is in stable condition.  Several witnesses saw bits and pieces of the incident, but their information wasn’t very helpful in clarifying the circumstance. Statements by the victim’s brother and the suspect conflict as to where the shooting took place and why it happened.

The suspect claims he was assaulted and shot to protect himself (no injuries to suspect) while the victim’s brother mentions a fight between the suspect and a female that was broken up by the victim. The suspect subsequently turned his anger towards the victim and shot him.

Officers gathered all available evidence, physical and statements, and a possibly involved vehicle was impounded.

The adult male suspect was later booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Assault.
