BACKROUND: On January 18th at approximately 8:06 p.m. a gas station located in the 500 block of South Dearborn Street was robbed at knife-point by a lone adult male suspect. The suspect confronted the female clerk behind the counter and demanded access to the register. The suspect stole cash and lottery tickets before fleeing the scene. The clerk sustained a cut to the back of her hand during the robbery.
On January 19th at approximately 8:13 p.m. a thrift store located in the 1000 block of 4th Avenue South was robbed at knife-point by a lone adult male suspect. The suspect confronted two female clerks behind the counter. He grabbed one of the victims by the throat and held a knife to her while demanding money. The suspect stole cash from the register and fled the scene on foot.
Robbery detectives assigned to the cases were able to develop information that led them to motel in the 8900 block of Aurora Avenue North. Detectives located the suspect inside one of the units and took him into custody without incident.
The 50-year-old male suspect was interviewed by detectives and subsequently booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery.
