Large disturbance, shots fired, arrests made in South Seattle

On April 24th at approximately 11:32 PM, South Precinct officers responded to a large disturbance/party at a residence in the 5000 Block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South.  Apparently, some unwanted guests arrived at the party and a disturbance soon started with shots fired.  Numerous neighbors called 911 to report the shots, and when police arrived there were dozens of people spilling out onto the street.  Officers spent considerable time trying to chase down possible armed suspects, quell street fights, and check for possible victims.  Officers stopped at least two vehicles seen leaving the area and one gun was recovered.  Another car was impounded pending a warrant to recover a firearm that was stashed in the car while parked behind the house.

In all, Martin Luther King Jr. Way South was shut down for about an hour during this investigation.  No victims were found at the scene, but approximately 90 minutes after the initial call a 15 year old male showed up at Harborview Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his leg.  Gang detectives interviewed the victim and it was discovered that he was injured at the party, but stated that he did not see who shot him.

Officers ended up arresting 6 individuals for various charges (outstanding warrants, harassment, false reporting) and many others were interviewed and released.
