On 7/8/10, at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers responded to an apartment in the 400 block of E. Loretta to a report of a suicidal male. The caller was the mother of the suicidal subject. She stated that her son had phoned earlier and suggested that he wanted to harm himself. The subject’s mother further stated that this concerned her because of the subject’s past mental problems.
Officers responded to the apartment, however the subject was gone. Officers gained entry inside the unit and recovered a weapon. Due to the subject’s mental state and threats to harm himself the weapon was recovered for safekeeping.
On 7/9/10, at approximately 3:45 a.m., officers responded to the 400 blk of E. Loretta St. to a report of multiple shots being fired. Officers arrived within minutes and did not hear or see anything suspicious.
As officers conducted an area check, additional calls came in to 911 of more shots being fired from an apartment in the area of Bellevue and Summit.
Officers responded back to the earlier shots location and was contacted by a witness who stated that he heard shots coming from either the 4th or 5th floor of an apartment unit in the 400 block of E. Loretta St. While talking to the witness, officers saw breaking glass fall from an apartment unit on the 4th floor.
Officers set up containment and called out SWAT and Hostage Negotiators (HNT). HNTs were able to make contact with the two subjects inside the apartment. One of the subjects came out of the apartment and was taking into custody without incident.
At approximately 8:50 a.m., the second subject/ suspect came out of the apartment. He was arrested without incident.
The suspect will be booked into King County Jail for Discharge of a Firearm. He could face additional charges. There was no report of victims or property damage.
