On July 13th, shortly before 2 AM, West Precinct officers responded to the area of Utah Avenue South and South Massachusetts Street to investigate an assault of two men by a known suspect. One of the victims called 911 stating that the suspect had come to their camper and began assaulting them while they were inside. The victims fled the camper after being assaulted and ran to a nearby business where they called police. Officers arrived quickly and attempted to contact the suspect, who was still inside the camper. The suspect came to the window of the camper and showed officers a gas can and a lighter. Officers immediately backed off and contained the area. The Seattle Fire Department responded to the scene to treat the two victims for their injuries. After about a half hour of negotiating with the suspect, officers were able to persuade the suspect to come out and he was taken into custody without further incident. The suspect is known to both of the victims, and had been a roommate of theirs in the camper in the past. The 29 year old male was arrested and later booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Vehicle Prowling (Domestic Violence). Officers have also requested assault charges.
