Assault in the “Jungle”

On August 20th, at approximately 9:30 PM, a woman called 911 stating that she had been hit with a machete near 11 Avenue South and Beacon Avenue South.  Officers eventually located the woman at  the 11 Avenue South and South Holgate Street overpass.  She was covered in blood and claimed that while she was walking in the area known as the “Jungle” an unknown black male struck her in the head with a machete.  Seattle Fire Department arrived and treated her injuries and then transported her to Harborview, but her injuries are not considered life-threatening.  The victim would not provide any futher information to the police.   Officers conducted a thorough area check but could not locate a suspect or weapon.  Based on the victim’s injuries, the weapon was more likely a blunt object rather than a machete.
