Triple Stabbing downtown, three suspects in custody

On September 15th at approximately 7:47 p.m. officers responded to a 911 call of three people stabbed at Western Avenue and Virginia Street.  All suspects were gone upon the officers’ arrival.  The three adult male victims gave the investigating officers conflicting information about the suspects and their direction of travel.  Officers immediately began trying to locate witnesses while additional officers searched the area for the suspects based on the limited information they had.

Officers quickly developed information during the course of their investigation and also located a witness that provided them with additional and more accurate information about the suspects.  Officers subsequently located three suspects near the corner of 8th Avenue and Pine Street and detained them.  A Department of Corrections (DOC) officer on patrol with one of the SPD patrol officers quickly discovered that all three suspects were under active DOC supervision and subsequently provided investigatory assistance.

A witness positively identified one suspect as being involved in the stabbing.  That suspect, a 35-year-old male, was placed under arrest.  He was transported to Harborview Medical Center by ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries that he apparently sustained in his altercation with the victim(s).  He is currently under police guard.  Upon his release from the hospital, he will be booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Assault and Department of Corrections (DOC) violations.

Suspect #2, a 35-year-old male, was arrested and a knife was recovered from his person.  He will be booked into the King County Jail for a DOC Felony Escape Warrant and additional DOC violations.

Suspect #3, a 44-year-old male, was arrested and a screwdriver was recovered from his person.  Based on information developed by officers during the course of their investigation, suspect #3 will be booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Assault and DOC violations.

All three adult male victims were transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of their life-threatening injuries.

The knife and screwdriver were booked into evidence.  There are no suspects outstanding.

This remains an active and on-going investigation.
