Shooting in South Seattle

On October 31st at approximately 3:15 a.m. officers responded to a report of three shots heard in the area of Airport Way South and South Nebraska Street.  It was later determined that the shots fired came from the 900 block of South Doris Street.  Officers checked the area and found drops of fresh blood on the ground on the other side of the street.  Gang Unit and CSI detectives responded to investigate further and process the scene.

Other officers responded to East Marginal Way South and Diagonal Avenue South for a report of a male being shot and the suspect no longer in the area.  Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim may have been transported to the East Marginal Way location from the South Doris Street scene.

SFD medics transported the 23-year-old male victim to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

At 3:26 a.m. officers responded to the area around Harborview Medical Center for a report of a vehicle that had stopped at the intersection of 9th Avenue and East Jefferson Street occupied by two males, one of whom had sustained gunshot wounds.  As officers arrived on scene medics were already treating the gunshot victim, a 29-year-old male.

Officers contacted the driver of the vehicle, a 41-year-old male, who was interviewed by detectives and subsequently released.  Officers did recover a handgun from the vehicle.  Both the vehicle and the gun were booked into evidence.

This remains an active and on-going Gang Unit investigation.
