Officer-involved collision in North Seattle, no injuries

On October 29th at 10:49 p.m. a K-9 officer was responding with lights and siren activated to a “man with a rifle” call in North Seattle.  Preliminary investigation indicates that as the officer was traveling westbound on North 90th Street  a motorist who was traveling southbound on Midvale Avenue North failed to stop for a stop sign and drove in front of the on-coming patrol car and stopped in its path.  The officer was forced to maneuver around the rear of the blocking/stopped vehicle and subsequently lost control of his patrol car and collided into three unoccupied parked cars.

There were no injuries sustained by any of the involved parties and there was no SFD response to the scene.  The canine was taken to a veterinarian hospital for evaluation as a precaution.

The driver of the civilian vehicle was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign (an infraction) and released from the scene.

In regards to the original call, responding officers were unable to locate a suspect.
