North Precinct Communities collect over 4,000 pairs of socks for charity

North Precinct Community Police Team Sergeant Dianne Newsom and Nurse Mary Larson Mahar pose in front of Pioneer Square Clinic, along side 4,628 pairs of socks.

Sgt. Newsom thought collecting socks would be a great idea and there was an obvious need. Typically, patients at Solid Ground and Pioneer Square Health clinics have to have their socks cut off their feet with nothing to replace them with.

The various North Seattle Community groups also got involved and donated time, socks, and other items to the sock drive.  In addition to socks, the group also collected gloves, caps, scarves, t-shirts and wash cloths.

Sgt. Newsom said, ” The North Precinct communities are awesome, whenever I come up with a team project they always come through”.
