Captain Nolan named new South Precinct Commander

Captain Mike Nolan began his career with the Seattle Police Department in 1985.  He worked as a patrol officer in the South Precinct and as a detective in the Vice Unit.  Following his promotion to Sergeant in 1996 he was assigned as a Patrol Sergeant at the East Precinct and later to Internal Investigations.  As a Lieutenant he returned to the South Precinct where he was a Watch Commander and the Operations Lieutenant.  In 2003 he was transferred to the Traffic Section where he commanded the Traffic Enforcement Unit, DUI Squad as well as the Traffic Collision Investigations Squad.  In 2007 he was transferred to the Vice Section/Organized Crime Unit where he supervised the Colacurcio organized crime investigation.

Captain Nolan was promoted to Captain in July of 2010 and was assigned as the city-wide Night Duty Commander.  He began his assignment as the Commander of the South Precinct in December of 2010.   He was born and raised in the Seattle area and graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.  He is also a graduate of the West Point Leadership Training Program.

Captain Nolan replaces Captain Dave Emerick, who will now be the captain overseeing SWAT, K9 and Harbor.
