Man robbed in Belltown for cigarette, suspect arrested

On December 21st, just prior to midnight, a man called 911 to report that a male had just pulled a knife on him and demanded cigarettes.  The vicitm told responding officers that he had stepped outside of a restataurant in the 2100 Block of 1st Avenue to smoke a cigarette when he was approached by the suspect, demanding a cigarette.  When the victim refused to give him one, the suspect demanded the cigarette that the victim was holding.  Again, the victim refused.   The suspect then reportedly pulled out a knife and held it up against the victim’s abdomen and repeated his demand for the cigarette.  The victim gave him the cigarette, and the suspect fled on foot.  The victim was not injured.

Officers located the suspect nearby, and he was postively identified by the victim.  Officers recovered the knife and the suspect was taken into custody.  The 20 year old suspect will  be booked later  into the King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery.
