On March 11th at approximately 8:57 a.m. a row of semi-trucks with empty trailers were in line waiting to enter the parking lot of a business in the 300 block of South Industrial Way. An adult male employee was standing near the line of trucks with other employees who oversee the trucks entering the property. The row of trucks began to move when the victim was knocked to the ground by the truck wheels he was standing near and the lower portion of his body was run over by both sets of dual trailer wheels.
SFD medics responded to the scene and transported the 27-year-old male victim to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers evaluated the driver of the semi-truck for signs of impairment due to alcohol and/or drugs. None were detected. The driver was interviewed and released pending further investigation.
There were no citations issued at the scene, which is standard procedure in serious traffic collisions requiring extensive follow-up investigation and collision reconstruction.
Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate.
