Commercial Burglary/Fatality Shooting in South Seattle

On April 14th at approximately 11:22 p.m. officers responded to a 911 call reporting a forced entry commercial burglary with shots fired and one suspect being held at gunpoint.  Preliminary investigation indicates that two adult male suspects forced entry into a business in the 5900 block of 4th Avenue South and confronted an adult male employee inside.  The employee shot one suspect and then held the other suspect at gunpoint until police could respond.

Officers arrived on scene and took the second suspect into custody, who was not injured.  SFD medics were called to the scene to treat the suspect with the gunshot wound.  The wounded suspect was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.  The employee was not injured during the confrontation.

Homicide and CSI detectives responded to the scene.  The second suspect and the employee were transported to police headquarters to be interviewed by detectives, which is on-going.

The second suspect will be booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Burglary.  Other charges may be forthcoming pending further investigation.

This remains an active and on-going investigation.
