On April 24th at approximately 1:51 a.m. officers responded to a shooting at a club in the 2900 block of 1st Avenue South. Preliminary investigation indicates that the adult male suspect had been attacked by a group of adult males outside the club. Club security subsequently broke up the crowd with pepper spray. The suspect returned to his vehicle, a black 1990’s Chevy Caprice, and as he was leaving fired several shots at his attackers, striking one of them in the hip and foot. The suspect then fled northbound and remains at large.
The shooting victim was loaded into a car and transported to Harborview Medical Center by his friends. Upon arrival they dumped him at the door of the emergency room and left. Gang Unit detectives responded to Harborview and interviewed the victim.
The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20’s, 5’9″ to 5’11”, 175 lbs., hair in “cornrows”, and last seen wearing a black t-shirt and jeans.
Later in the morning officers located the suspect’s black Chevy Caprice in the Rainier Valley. The vehicle was impounded and taken to the evidence garage for processing.
This remains an active and on-going Gang Unit investigation.
