On May 4th at around 10:10 p.m., South Precinct patrol officers were on patrol near Rainier Avenue S and S Orcas Street when they heard a series of shots close by. Fleeing persons said the incident occurred at Rainier Avenue S and S Mead Street and gave a physical description of a possible victim. The officers located the victim, a man in his twenties, and he was uninjured. When officers requested information from him, he simply walked away. Officers searched the area for evidence and shell casings. What they found instead was two $5 bills dropped in the street. A K9 officer was requested and a track was initiated. Another $5 bill was found by the K9. Neither shell casings nor suspect were located.
The cash was placed into evidence.
