Truck/motorcycle collision in South Seattle

On May 29th at approximately 12:45 p.m. officers responded to a pickup truck/motorcycle collision in the area of 55th Avenue South and South Roxbury.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a yellow Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling westbound on South Roxbury at a high rate of speed.  A blue Ford Ranger pickup truck was traveling eastbound on South Roxbury and initiated a left turn onto 55th Avenue South when the two vehicles collided. 

SFD medics responded to the scene and transported the 49-year-old motorcyclist to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.  The driver of the Ford Ranger was not injured.

Officers examined the driver of the Ford Ranger for any signs of drug and/or alcohol impairment.  None were detected.

Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate.

There were no citations issued at the scene which is standard procedure in serious traffic collisions requiring extensive follow up investigation and collision reconstruction.
