On 6/8/11, at approximately 2:15 p.m., officers responded to the 9700 block of Rainier Av S to a report of a single vehicle collision. According to the caller a vehicle went 20 feet down an embankment and may have struck a house, ejecting the occupants.
Seattle Fire responded and treated the 24-year-old driver on scene. The driver was transported to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) with unknown injuries. Out of an abundance of caution, SPD Harbor Patrol and Seattle Fire Divers responded to search for possible occupants who may have been ejected from the vehicle and thrown into the water. No one was located in the water. A Drug Recognition Officer responded to HMC to evaluated the driver for drugs and or alcohol impairment.
Upon further investigation it was determined that this vehicle had been stolen 1.5 hours prior to the collision. The driver/suspect remains at HMC.
