Shots fired outside Community Center

On June 10th, at approximately 6:30 PM, South Precinct officers responded to a call of a fight disturbance involving fifteen males in front of the Jefferson Community Center in the 3800 Block of Beacon Avenue South.  As officers were enroute to the call, it was updated that 6-7 shots had been fired.  Officers arrived quickly, but the suspect(s) had fled.

Officers did locate a 60 year old woman who had been sitting inside her parked car just north of the community center.  She told officers that she observed an unknown male retrieve a handgun from a gold SUV that was parked next to her car.  While standing in front of her car, the suspect fired several shots at a white car that was fleeing the scene northbound on Beacon Avenue South.  The victim ducked down in the front seat of her car when the shooting began and was not injured.  Two rounds from the gun struck the roof of her car and exited through the back window.

Officers recovered several 9mm shell casings from the scene.  The victim’s car was taken to the processing room for further evidence collection.  Gang Unit detectives are following up on this investigation.  Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Seattle Police.
