Serious traffic collision investigation on Aurora

On July 24th at approximately 7:30 AM, North Precinct officers responded to two car collision with injuries in the northbound lanes of the 11500 Block of Aurora Avenue North.  One vehicle was travelling northbound, slowing to turn right into a business parking lot, when it was struck from behind by another vehicle also travelling northbound.

The collision caused the first vehicle to continue northbound, where it struck two pedestrians who were standing in the parking lot.  The second vehicle also continued northbound, where it struck a tree and came to rest facing eastbound.  There was significant damage to both cars.

A total of five people were injured.  One of the pedestrians has life-threatening injuries, the other four had minor injuries.  Seattle Fire responded and treated the injured.

Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) responded and began their investigation.  All lanes of northbound Aurora Avenue North were closed for several hours while the investigation was conducted, but the roadway has since been reopened.  TCIS will have responsibility for the continuing investigation.
