On July 25th, just before 5:00 AM, North Precinct officers responded to a reported car prowl incident where the car’s owner had confronted and was attempting to hold the suspect. This was in the 10700 Block of Fremont Avenue North. When the victim confronted the suspect, the suspect knocked down the victim and struck him. The fight continued and the victim was assisted by two other people in an attempt to detain the suspect. When officers arrived, the suspect was being held down in the street by two men while a female was standing over him holding a baseball bat.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the suspect had stolen numerous pieces of construction equipment from the victim’s truck. Those items were recovered from inside the suspect’s vehicle, parked a short distance down the street. A knife was also found at the scene, believed to have been dropped by the suspect in the struggle. The 46 year old suspect was arrested and later booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery. The suspect’s vehicle was impounded. Detectives will now handle the follow up investigation.
