Attempted robbery, shooting on Beacon

On July 31st, at approximately 3:36 AM, South Precinct officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 2900 Block of Beacon Avenue South.  Officers arrived and made contact with the victim who told them the following:

The suspect and the victim had gone downtown together and then taken a cab to a gas station in the 2400 Block of Beacon Avenue South.  The suspect and the victim made a purchase inside the store and then began to walk south along Beacon together.

When the two reached the 2900 Block, the suspect pulled out a gun, pointed it at the victim, and demanded money.  The victim declined to hand over any money and ran away from the suspect. As the victim was running away, the suspect fired one shot that struck the victim in the buttocks.

The victim was transported to Harborview with a non life-threatening injury.  Officers established containment quickly and a K-9 team attemtped to track the suspect.  Officers were not able to locate the suspect.  No other evidence was located at the scene.  Officers interviewed the victim at the hospital, but he refused to provide any additional information or cooperate with the investigation.
