On September 11th, at approximately 5:15 am, South Precinct officers responded with Seattle Fire to a reported car fire in the 4100 Block of 14th Avenue South. As officers arrived they located a second car fully involved in the 1400 Block of South Nevada Street. Officers informed SFD of the second vehicle burning. It was later learned that a third vehicle was also set on fire, but a citizen used a garden hose to extinguish it before there was any significant damage. Officers also located two additional parked vehicles that may have been in the process of being set on fire. One of the cars had the doors left open with burned papers inside, and another car had the doors open, but no sign of any attempt to ignite it.
Detectives from the Arson/Bomb Squad responded to the scene, as did investigators from Seattle Fire. The vehicles were processed and evidence was collected. ABS detectives will now handle the follow up investigation.
