On October 12th at approximately 10:15 p.m. officers announced to the occupants of Westlake Park over their public address system that the park was closed. This announcement was loud enough to be heard throughout the park.
Approximately five minutes later, bicycle officers entered the park and contacted a male who had set up a tent. The male refused to vacate and break down his tent.
He was subsequently arrested for Obstructing a Public Officer. A second male who was helping to defend the tent was also arrested for Obstructing a Public Officer.
One of the men was booked into the King County Jail while the other was sent to Harborview Medical Center for a non-arrest related medical issue.
