Marijuana grow operation disrupted

On October 13th at approximately 5:11 p.m., South Precinct patrol officers responded to a call from the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) of a possible marijuana grow operation inside a residence in the 6100 block of 47th Avenue S.  SFD was on scene due to a fire that started from one of the high intensity lights utilized in the residence.  Detectives from SPD Narcotics were called and  responded to the scene.

An inspection of the security tab on the meter revealed that it was broken.  A City Light Line Crew responded and determined that there was a power diversion.   Narcotics detectives petitioned for and obtained a search warrant.  Detectives and Seattle City Light Technical Metering Crew personnel processed the scene.  There were a total of  324 marijuana plants inside the residence (70 mature, 101 juvenile, 153 starters).  There were 25 light shields and 14 transformers.

All of the plants were seized.  The tenants of the residence left the scene after the fire erupted and did not return.  This remains an active and ongoing SPD Narcotics investigation.
