On November 25th, at approximately 8:30 am, two juvenile males reported being robbed at gunpoint by a male near Beacon Avenue South and South Brandon Street. According to the victims, the suspect displayed a silver handgun and took the cell phone of one of the victims. The suspect then ran northbound. The suspect was described as an Asian male, approximately 20, 5′-11″, stocky build, hooded jacket and dark jeans. The victims continued on to Cleveland High School where they were able to call 911. This caused a delay of about 20 minutes.
Officers making an area search encountered an Asian male matching the suspect description. An officer safety search of the individual resulted in the recovery of a black small caliber semi-automatic pistol (not the gun described by the victims). Neither of the victims were able to positively identify the detained subject as being involved in the robbery. However, the juvenile male suspect was arrested for the possession of the pistol and later booked into the Youth Services Center. The orginal robbery suspect is still outstanding.
