On December 7th at 6:47 p.m., a Southwest Precinct patrol officer was patrolling on S Cloverdale approaching the 700 block. While passing a bus stop the officer observed an adult male suspect writing on a white brick wall with a black marker or paint pen. The suspect was wearing a black bicycle helmet, black hoodie, black jean vest, and black pants. The suspect was standing with a bicycle.
The officer stopped his car and made contact with the suspect. The officer asked the suspect why he thought it would be a good idea to write on the wall and he replied that he did it because he was bored. The officer asked if it was okay to break the law if he was bored and and the suspect replied, “No, it was a childish thing to do, I’m sorry.” In a search inciden to arrest, the officer located a knife in the suspect’s back pocket and a large black permanent marker in the suspect’s right pocket.
The suspect was interviewed and released from the scene. A request for the charge of Property Damage has been made with the City Attorney’s Office.
