Panhandler and friends assault woman in Belltown

On December 8th at around 12:42 a.m., West Precinct patrol officers responded to a report of an assault in the 200 block of Battery Street. The adult female victim told officers that an hour previously, she was accosted by an adult male suspect who had asked her for some change to buy beer. The victim admitted to making a “smart” remark in response before walking away.

The victim told officers that about an hour later she came across the same suspect, but this time he was with an adult man and an adult woman. The victim told officers that all three suspects knocked her to the ground and physically attacked her. The victim said that the suspects rifled through her pockets but she wasn’t sure if the suspects stole any of her property. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of injuries that she sustained during the assault.

Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspects. This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
