On December 14th at around 9:09 p.m., South Precinct patrol officers responded to a report of a trespasser bitten by dogs in the 5200 block of S Director Street. Officers arrived on scene and learned the following. A 21-year-old male suspect had jumped a ten foot high fence and entered a privately owned back yard, possibly to prowl two vehicles that were parked there. Once the suspect was in the yard, he was immediately set upon by four pitbull dogs. The suspect sustained injuries to his arms, ears, face and legs. The homeowner heard the commotion and called the dogs off and placed them into a kennel. The suspect was unable to walk due to his injuries, so the homeowner placed the suspect on a handtruck and moved him to the street. The homeowner flagged down a passerby and asked them to call 911.
Seattle Fire medics provided first aid at the scene and then transported the suspect to Harborview Medical Center for further treatment of non life-threatening injuries. The homeowner provided the officers with licenses and vet records for the dogs. These documents were placed into evidence. The dogs were left in the care of their owner. A request for charges of Criminal Trespass will be forwarded to the City Attorney’s Office for consideration of charges.
