Driver collides into tree in North Seattle

On December 24th at approximately 3:52 a.m. an 18-year-old female driver was traveling north on 15th Avenue NE approaching Pinehurst Way NE in a silver Honda Accord when she lost control of her vehicle and struck a tree on an island median on the east side of the street.  

The driver was treated at the scene by SFD medics and transported to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) with non-life-threatening injuries.  The front seat passenger, a 19-year-old female and the only other occupant in the vehicle, was treated at the scene by SFD medics and transported to HMC via ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Preliminary investigation indicates that alcohol and/or drugs were a contributing factor to the collision.  Officers processed the driver of the Honda for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. 

Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate.
