On January 9th at approximately 5:06 p.m. officers responded to MLK Jr. Way South and South Walden Street for reports of a person shot. Officers arrived on scene and located a 30-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to the torso.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was shot while in or near a vehicle. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction and remains at large. Nobody else was injured during the course of the incident. It is unknown at this time what precipitated the shooting.
SFD medics responded to the scene and transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The victim has since died as a result of his injuries.
Officers conducted an area search for the suspect but were unable to locate him.
The suspect is described as a black male, 5’8″ to 6’0″ tall, thin build, and last seen wearing a black hat.
Homicide and CSI detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate.
