Commercial Vehicle Enforcement today

On January 13th officers from the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Squad (CVES) inspected seven commercial trucks.  The squad worked East Marginal Way between South Atlantic Street and South Spokane Street.    

The CVES documented 11 violations, including the following: 

Fail to secure brake connection – 1

Defective headlamp – 1

Reflectors – 3

Cell Phone – 1

DOT Markings – 2

Expired Medical Card – 1

Windshield mechanism – 1

License plate required – 1

Citations were issued for the following violations:

Expired medical card

Cell phone

Defective headlamp

License plate required

 The documented violations will be forwarded to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and will count as “strikes” against the company, the driver and the carrier.

The Seattle Police Department encourages all commercial motor vehicle operators to be familiar with and obey all local and state laws and all federal motor carrier safety regulations.
