Rainier Beach Armed Robbery, suspect arrested

On March 22nd, just before midnight, an off-duty Seattle Police officer working inside the Safeway  in the 9200 Block of Rainier Avenue South was contacted by a male who stated that he had just been the victim of an armed robbery.  The officer immediately reported the incident and South Precinct officers responded.  The victim told officers that the suspect, a female, had approached him while he was stopped  in his car in the drive through lane of the Jack in the Box  in the 9100 Block of Rainier and brandished a knife and demanded his car keys.

The victim leaned away from the open driver’s side window, and the suspect reached in and removed the keys from the ignition.  The victim also stated that the suspect held the knife near his face and demanded his cell phone as well.  The victim attempted to find someone to call 911 for him, since he was now without a phone, but could not find anyone to do so.  He then ran across the street, where he found the officer and reported the robbery.

A detailed suspect description was provided and within minutes officers located the suspect across the street on the west side of Rainier Avenue South at South Fisher Place.  The suspect was detained, and the victim’s car keys and a knife were recovered from the suspect’s jacket.  The victim’s cell phone was recovered from the bushes.

The suspect, a 20 year old female, was arrested and later booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery.
