On March 23rd at approximately 11:59 a.m. officers responded to a two-vehicle collision in a strip mall parking lot located in the 13200 block of Aurora Avenue North.
Preliminary investigation indicates that an adult female driving a 2003 red Jeep Liberty and an adult male driving a 1980 white and green Ford pickup truck were both backing out of their respective parking stalls. As both drivers were backing up they collided with one another. The female driver of the Jeep exited her vehicle to confront the driver of the truck, failing to realize she did not place her vehicle in park. This resulted in her vehicle door knocking her down and pinning her beneath her Jeep.
SFD medics responded and treated the 52-year-old female on scene. She was then transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers evaluated the 48-year-old driver of the pickup truck for signs of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. None were detected.
There were no citations issued at the scene, which is standard procedure in traffic collisions requiring extensive follow up investigation and collision reconstruction.
Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate.
