On March 23rd at approximately 10:50 p.m. officers were contacted by a victim of a hit and run collision at MLK Jr. Way South and South Warsaw Street. The suspect vehicle had fled northbound. While searching for the suspect officers received an update that the vehicle was at 35th Avenue South and South Orcas Street. Officers responded to that location and found the suspect vehicle.
The adult male suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers chased after the suspect on foot and caught him after a short distance.
The suspect physically resisted arrest. One officer injured his knee and right thumb. He also sustained scrapes and scratches to his hands, forearms, and knee. The officer was taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of his minor injuries.
The 38-year-old male suspect was booked into the King County Jail for multiple charges including:
Hit and Run Collision, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or Drugs (DUI), Negligent Driving 1st Degree, and Obstructing a Police Officer.
