On April 6th, just before 8:00 pm, a West Precinct officer at 2nd Avenue and Stewart Street heard gunshots and witnessed a car fleeing the area. The officer broadcast the information and vehicle description and additional officers responded to the area.
A vehicle matching the description was stopped by officers at 2nd Avenue and Columbia Street. The occupants were detained while officers investigated. Another car was following it, and it was also stopped. Several other individuals were detained and questioned by officers and Gang Unit detectives as officers recovered shell casings from the scene. The individuals detained were identified and released, pending further investigation by detectives. It does not appear that anyone was injured from the shots fired.
