Vehicle / Pedestrian Fatality Collision

On 4/14/2012, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers responded to a vehicle/ pedestrian collision at Alaskan Way and Wall St. Seattle Fire Department personnel responded and while they worked feverishly to revive the pedestrian, upon their arrival at Harborview Medical Center, the pedestrian was pronounced dead.

The 50-year-old adult male pedestrian was attempting to cross westbound across the 2400 block of Alaskan Way. As the pedestrian walked across the roadway in front of the cars that had stopped for a train, he was struck by a Dodge Van in the center lane which was passing the stopped vehicle.

The driver was evaluated at the scene by a Drug Recognition Officer, who did not find any signs of alcohol or drug use.  The driver was identified and released at the scene pending further investigation.

Traffic Collision Investigators gathered evidence and processed the scene. The investigation continues.
