Buy bust operation in Belltown

On April 23rd, just after 8:00 pm, members of the West Precinct Anti-Crime Team, along with the bicycle squad  were conducting a narcotics buy-bust operation in Belltown.  An undercover officer was posing as a potential drug buyer at 2nd Avenue and Battery Street.  He had just purchased suspected crack cocaine from a suspect, while another suspect was acting as a lookout.  The officer noticed that there was something odd about the suspected drugs and mentioned this to the suspect.  The suspect became enraged, yelling at the officer.  The suspect then placed his hand in his jacket pocket implying that he had a gun.  The officer immediately backed off and gave the appropriate signal to the other officers in the area, who came in immediately to arrest the two suspects.  The arrest teams moved in and a brief struggle ensued.  The suspects were taken into custody.  The suspect did not have a gun as he had implied.  The two male suspects, ages 38 and 33,  were later booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery and Investigation of VUCSA Delivery.  None of the officers were injured.  This is part of an ongoing effort by the West Precinct to combat street narcotics in the neighborhoods.
