On May 31st at 1:35 p.m. officers responded to a vehicle collision with extensive property damage in the 300 block of East Roy Street. Preliminary investigation indicates that moving company employees parked their large moving truck on the upper portion of the 300 block of East Roy Street while loading up. The truck was unoccupied.
The driver failed to place chocks under the wheels to prevent movement of the truck. The truck subsequently slid down the steep road from its parked position, collided into two parked cars along the way, and then crashed into the guard railing along Interstate 5, causing extensive damage. The truck came to rest with part of its front end leaning over the edge onto I-5.
There were no injuries as a result of the multi-vehicle collision.
The Washington State Patrol and Washington State Department of Transportation responded to the scene to divert freeway traffic until the truck was towed away and the guard railing repaired.
The Seattle Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Squad responded to the scene to assist patrol officers investigating the collision.
The driver of the truck was cited and released.
