Law Enforcement officers from across Washington are running the Special Olympics “Flame of Hope” across the state to the Special Olmpics Washington Summer Games Opening Ceremonies. The officers, who are travelling from various parts of the state, will converge at Lakewood Police Department for a special ceremony and joining of the torches.
Seattle Police officers are participating in the run this morning, receiving the torch from Shoreline Police at North 145th Street and Aurora Avenue North at approximately 9:00 am. SPD officers are then running the torch down Aurora Avenue along a route until they reach 5th Avenue and Cherry Street, in front of police headquarters, where they will hand the torch off to King County officers at approximately 10:30 am.
