Multiple vehicles were vandalized by unknown suspects in North Seattle this morning. At approximately 3:12 a.m. police and fire department personnel responded to a suspicious car fire in the 7700 block of East Greenlake Drive North. Officers discovered a van that was partially burned around the gas cap but otherwise undamaged. Preliminary investigation indicates that an unknown suspect(s) inserted a rag into the gas inlet and lit it on fire. The fire burned itself out before igniting the gas tank. The suspect(s) also stole the victim’s rear license plate.
Three additional vehicles were damaged as well, none of which involved arson. The suspect(s) stole the license plates and “keyed” the paint on two of the vehicles; the third vehicle contained construction equipment which the suspect’s threw on the sidewalk and onto the roof of another car.
The suspect(s) remain at large.
Anyone with information about this incident or who may know the identities or whereabouts of any suspect(s) is asked to call 911 or Seattle Police and refer to this incident. Anonymous tips are welcome.
