Shot Fired, Man Pistol-Whipped In Central District Robbery

Two armed muggers attacked a man and fired off a shot during a robbery in the Central District late last night.

Around 11:30 pm, the victim got off a bus near 22nd Avenue and E Columbia Street and was walking home when two men ran up behind him.

The suspects—both black males in their early 20s, between 5-10 and 6-foot, wearing dark clothing—confronted the victim and told him “we have guns,” before they grabbed his backpack and dumped its contents onto the ground. The suspects then grabbed the victim’s laptop, camera, and two computer hard drives.

The suspects also searched the victim’s pockets, and took his bank cards, ID, phone, and wallet.

One of the suspects then pistol-whipped the victim, accidentally firing one shot in the process.

Both suspects then fled.

The victim walked to his home several blocks from the scene and called 911.

Officers and a K9 unit searched the area for the suspects, but were unable to find them.
