Woman Killed, Five Wounded In Shooting At House Party (UPDATED)

Updated at 1:48 pm

A 21-year-old woman was killed and five others were wounded when gunfire erupted at a house party in south Seattle early Sunday morning.

The shooting came hours after police responded to several other incidents at the house party, attended by several hundred people, near Renton Avenue S. and Lindsey Place S.

At about 8:45 pm, police were called to the home for a domestic violence assault and arrested two people in front of the house.  Later, around 11:30 pm, officers again responded to the area for a noise complaint. Officers spoke with a person at the home, who agreed to keep the noise down and to keep everyone out of the street.

Finally, just before 2:00 am, police received reports of gunfire at the home.

According to witnesses, someone in the backyard of the home fired several shots into the air, sending the crowd at the party scattering. At least 20-30 shots were fired during the incident.

Officers from several precincts, as well as officers from Tukwila and King County responded to the scene.   SFD transported five victims to Harborview Medical Center, and a sixth victim was transported to the hospital by a friend.

The 21-year-old woman died at Harborview this morning from a fatal gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Two females, 17 and 18 years old, two 20-year-old men, and a 21-year-old man, were also injured.

Homicide and CSI detectives are investigating the possibility several that people fired shots during the incident, but do not have any suspect information to release at this time.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Seattle Police at (206) 233-5000.
