2 people shot inside a Ballard apartment

A man and woman was shot inside a Ballard apartment this morning.  At approximately 1:30 a.m., officers responded to an apartment in the 1100 block of NW 54th St. Upon arrival they were met by a female witness (female victim’s daughter) who stated that her mother and her mother’s male friend had been shot multiple times and the suspect (female victim’s ex-boyfriend) had fled.  She provided the suspect’s name and vehicle information to officers.

According to this witness the suspect arrived at the apartment and almost immediately opened fire on both victims, striking them multiple times.  Seattle Fire responded and treated both victims on scene. They were transported to Harborview with life threatening injuries.

Officers at the scene broadcast a description of the suspect’s vehicle. An officer who had set up containment near the 1-5 on ramp, near NE 50th, spotted the suspect vehicle. The officer followed the vehicle until additional units arrived. The vehicle was stopped near I-5 and S. Michigan St and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The suspect’s vehicle was impounded to the SPD processing room. The suspect was transported to police headquarters, where he will be processed and later booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Assault.

The Homicide Unit processed the scene and is investigating. We believe this incident is domestic violence in nature.
