Two Witnesses Chase A Man After He Stole a Woman’s iPhone

A tired and out of breath suspect gave up after running off with a woman’s I-Phone. On 07/15/2012, at approximately 12:41 p.m., a witness called police to report that at 13th Ave E and E John he had observed a female chasing a white male yelling that her cell phone had been stolen.

Officers arrived on scene at 13th Ave E and E Denny and observed two witnesses standing over a man. The two witnesses told officers that they had chased this suspect southbound through an alley from 13th Ave E and E John Street after he had stolen the victim’s cell phone.

Both witnesses observed the suspect run away southbound with the woman’s cell phone. The victim was yelling and attempting to run after him.

The suspect gave up and sat down on the ground in the 1300 block of E Denny. He placed the cell phone on the ground and the two witnesses gave the cell phone back to the victim.

According to the victim the suspect had asked to borrow her I-phone. She allowed the man to make a call but he ran away with the cell phone after he had made his call.

The 26-year-old man admitted to stealing the victim’s I-Phone.  He was booked into King County Jail for Theft and a no bail Edmonds Police Department misdemeanor warrant for DUI.
