Woman assaulted in Rainier Beach, suspect in custody

At approximately 2:15 this morning a witness called 911 to report a woman screaming inside a house in the 9700 Block of Arrowsmith Avenue South.  When South Precinct officers arrived in the block, they located a naked woman covered in blood banging on various home doors.  The Seattle Fire Department responded and treated the female for a gash to her head  before transporting her to Harborview Medical Center.  A neighbor then pointed out a particular house in the block that they believed the woman had been inside, and that several people had driven away in a car prior to the officers’ arrival.

Officers checked the residence and found one of the doors covered in blood.  They then began banging on the doors and windows trying to get a response.  While banging on a window, officers could see inside that the walls were covered in blood.  Officers then entered the house to check for further victims.  No one was located inside the house, so the house was secured.  The home owner returned to the house a short time later, without his car, and admitted that the victim had been inside his house.  The homeowner, a man in his forties,  was then taken into custody.

Detectives responded to the location to process the scene and begin their investigation.  They are currently interviewing the suspect.  This remains an active and on-going investigation.
