The City of Seattle’s data center will be partially shut down from Friday, August 31st to Tuesday, September 4th to conduct maintenance on a portion of the electrical system serving the Seattle Municipal Tower. This shutdown will impact the City’s non-critical information technology systems.
Some City web services will be unavailable throughout the affected period with only limited access to www.Seattle.gov and online services remaining available.
Critical public safety systems, such as 911 and emergency dispatching, will NOT be impacted by this partial shutdown.
The maintenance will take 72 hours. Additional time will be required on either side of these 72 hours to shut down certain applications and servers and then start them back up.
Labor Day weekend was chosen to minimize the impacts to employees and to the public.
We highly recommend you try to conduct any important online business before the end of the day Thursday, August 30th.
We apologize for any inconvenience this outage may cause and urge you to plan in advance.
